On the 42nd anniversary of losing JFK we lose our beloved Grateful Dead.

Sure there will be other ways to gather the music, and it could be more fun, but the sad revelation is that deep within the heart of what was once the Grateful Dead is just darkness. Cold, impersonal, calculating greed. Timed no doubt to increase Christmas purchases the tainted remnant of our favorite band gives us the Thanksgiving week gift we'll never forgive.

RIP Grateful Dead spirit, and like with JFK we may never know who pulled the trigger.

...GD have made vast amounts of money over the years, even presently, a decade past Jerry's death, makes absolutely no sense, and very true, [against] the spirit of the music.

to be honest im amazed and thankful the archive existed at all. thanks to the internet the past six or so years saw an INSANE amount of great quality dead spread all over the world. quality and quantity beyond what i ever imagined years ago. its out of the bag, the seeds have been spread. It will continue to be spread in one form or another. thats got to make you smile.

The Grateful Dead have given me years of enjoyment for the cost of a few blank tapes/CDs and friends who have shared them with me and this place.

I have no problem paying for the music in the future..the Dead have families to take care of and I'll gladly pay to
continue to enjoy the music I love.

I think they've had it very good to tell you the truth, they have made millions from the fans, and shared music as well, very cool, very sixties, everyone's happy. Now they've got a community of fans pissed off and far less likely to purchase new releases, everyone loses.
Something tells me the shows may very well be back up before we know it, this was not a smart decision.

I, for one, will not spend another dime to support the remaining members.

If I was going to NJPAC I would stand up and flip off Phil for the entire show tonight.

A pox upon their house.
